Poli Sci is basically a mish-mash of history, basic economics, sociology w/o the numbers, and current events. It's interesting and I suppose fairly useful, inasmuch as being able to talk current events at a cocktail party is useful. Good Poli Sci students are interesting, bad ones are not particularly intelligent. The issue is marks: anyone can walk into an essay exam and pull off a 60 or 70 without any prior knowledge, but the nature of subjective poli sci assignments (essays, exams, etc.) puts a low ceiling on the marks you can achieve (i.e.., mid to high 80's, typically) as opposed to the more objective and quantitative disciplines (i.e., economics, math, stats, physical sciences, engineering, etc.).
